Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 22, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Shoelace ("Shoelace", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects information through our website at shoelace.com and through the internal tools we use to deliver marketing services to our clients, including integrations with third-party advertising platforms such as Pinterest, Google, and Meta.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us. When you contact us through our website or by email, we collect what you provide, such as your name, email address, company name, and message.

Website usage information. Like most websites, our site and hosting providers may automatically record basic technical information such as IP address, browser type, pages visited, and referring URLs, and may use cookies or similar technologies for site functionality and analytics.

Advertising platform data. When a client grants Shoelace access to its advertising accounts (for example, by sharing a Pinterest ad account with our Pinterest Business account), our internal tools retrieve campaign and performance data from that platform's API. This includes ad spend, impressions, clicks, conversions, and conversion value. We access only accounts that clients have explicitly shared with us. We do not access or collect personal information about individual Pinterest users or other end users.

2. How we use information

  • To respond to inquiries and provide our services.
  • To produce performance reports, analysis, and recommendations for the client that owns the advertising account.
  • To operate, maintain, and improve our website and internal tools.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

3. Use of the Pinterest API

Shoelace uses the Pinterest API to read advertising performance data from ad accounts that our clients have shared with us, solely to report on and manage those clients' campaigns. Shoelace is not endorsed by, sponsored by, or affiliated with Pinterest.

  • We request read access only to the data needed for reporting (for example, the ads:read scope).
  • Pinterest data is used only for the client that owns the ad account and is shared only with that client and the Shoelace team members working on that account.
  • We do not sell, rent, resell, or redistribute Pinterest content or Pinterest-derived data, and we do not use it for advertising targeting or to build profiles of individuals.
  • When a client revokes access or our engagement ends, we stop retrieving data from that account immediately and delete stored Pinterest-derived data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

The same principles apply to data we access through other advertising platforms (such as Google Ads and Meta) on behalf of our clients.

4. How we share information

We do not sell personal information. We share information only:

  • With the client that owns the relevant advertising account.
  • With service providers that help us operate our business (for example, hosting, data storage, and reporting tools), under obligations to protect the data and use it only for the services they provide to us.
  • When required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Shoelace, our clients, or others.

5. Data retention and security

We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy or as required by law. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards, including access controls and encrypted credential storage, to protect the information we handle. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

6. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live (for example, California or the European Economic Area), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, or to object to certain processing. To make a request, email us at the address below. Clients can revoke Shoelace's access to their advertising accounts at any time through each platform's business or account settings.

7. Children's privacy

Our website and services are intended for businesses and are not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version on this page and change the effective date above.
